Children from 2 years old are striving for independence and Montessori schools provide the environment and daily rhythm to allow them to do things on their own.
Freedom of choice
We believe that the motivation of learning is natural and that classroom environment should promote it by allowing students to choose their activity and work by themselves. We also let students repeating an activity as much as they want as children learn through repetition.
Mix aged classroom
Studying environment with students from different ages as a source for sharing and learning.
Young children discover emotions for the first time : happiness, sadness, anger, excitement... More often than not their behaviour is profoundly influenced by those emotions. Identifying, naming and expressing these feelings is a key part of their healthy development. This is why La Maison Montessori de Pékin has since its very beginning been integrating Social Emotional Learning into its curriculum and classrooms. Thus providing all of our students the necessary vocabulary and tools to help them not only navigate their own feelings but also to increase their empathy and ability to recognize these feelings in others.
Taking care of the environment is a founding pillar of LMMP's education and philosophy. Teachers will provide many opportunities to children to learn about the world around them and the necessity to protect it. Recycling, up-cycling, limiting one's consumption to one's needs are all elements deeply integrated in our curriculum. Planting activities take place regularly in and out of the classroom, while fieldtrip to organic farms, Natural museum and other green spaces are opportunities for children to discover the biodiversity surrounding them and its importance.
